Discover the art of crafting beautiful floral arrangements using sustainable practices, replacing traditional floral foam in favour of natural or re-usable materials. 

• Learn flower arranging in a variety of styles using contemporary, sustainable techniques
• Be introduced to flower identification and preparation techniques
• Learn maintenance techniques and how to extend the life and quality of your arrangement
• Use a mixture of locally-sourced flowers and foliage readily available and used by floral designers
• Use natural or re-usable materials to replace traditional floral foam and plastics
• Learn about focal flowers, secondary flowers, filler flowers, and foliage in seasonal varieties
• Hands-on work where you explore a variety of sustainable techniques and find your own personal style

Participants will be able to use these skills to make arrangements at home. Course format is demonstration followed by practical exercises. Students will create up to three bouquets such as a hand-tied posy, armature bouquet and bouquet with a structure.

The course will assist people wishing to gain skills to arrange flowers in a more eco-friendly way for hobby and the home environment, as well as assisting them in ways to improve their practice autonomously. The course is also for people considering a career in floristry, providing an insight into the industry, though it is not designed for entry into the floristry industry.

All floral materials and vessels are provided as part of the course.

Please bring a towel, pen, notepad and flower snips.
During the course you will have 3 arrangements to transport home. Please consider this when organising transport.
Either bring your own lunch or buy from Box Hill shops (during 1-hour lunch break) just a 10-minute walk.
