Course Summary

Get into painting and drawing and learn a variety of techniques using acrylic, charcoal and pastels.

In this hadns on course you will learn about colour mixing, tonal value, line, proportion ans space.  We will explore composition, representation, abstraction and colour theory.

Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, this course welcomes everybody and provides good foundations for your art journaey as well as a wealth of inspiration.

In this course students will be introduced to painting and drawing. The course will cover the following areas:

Introduction to drawing still life with charcoal and pastels.

Exploring space, form and tone.

Introduction to painting still life using acrylic paints.

Using colour temperature mixing methods.

Exploring painting and drawing issues.

Your Teacher
Heidi Knoepfli s an experienced visual artist and has been teaching art for well over 30 years in Melbourne and England. 
Heidi holds a Graduate Diploma of Education form Melbourne University a Bachelor of Art from Monash University and a Masters of Fine Art from RMIT Melbourne. 
Heidi has a diverse and on going art practice in St Kilda encompassing painting drawing installation and performative art.
In addition she has exhibited widely with over 70 exhibition to her credit winning several art prizes and artist in residencies. 
Heidi has been published in severals journals etc and is collected here and in Switzerland Holland Germany South Africa + the UK.

Please bring to your first class the following drawing materials:

1x 4B, 1x 3H pencil
Two bulldog clips
A4 visual diary 
1 sharpie pen
Ruler eraser sharpener
1 compressed charcoal stick (not willow charcoal)

Please note: Further material requirements for the course will be discussed in the first session. 
It is expected that materials for this course are likely to cost no more than $30 – $40 depending on the quality and how much you may already have.
