Do you want to create beautiful mosaic art for your house or garden? Would you like to be guided through the maze of adhesives, sealants, grouts, cutting techniques and design applications? This course is ideal for complete beginners offering lots of individual support.  It is also the ideal course if you have experimented with mosaics previoulsly, and would like to continue on your mosaic journey.

Learn about different methods and materials as you gain confidence in producing mosaic art from concept to finish.

Mosaic is often referred to as a craft. Broken tiles and crockery cover utility based objects, giving them a new and decorative lease of life.  In this course, you will learn about the exciting possibilities of mosaics as a visual art. When this ancient art form marries a contemporary perspective with an aesthetic or conceptual vision then the magic can really begin. Brushstrokes are replaced with careful positioning of various tesserae in respect to their effect on the form, line, colour and texture of a composition. Abstract or representational mosaic art is unique in its ability to appear to alter with changes in light levels. Thoughtful consideration to the type of cut and tesserae as well as to the andamento (or flow) of the piece, results in impressive art for inside or out.
