By the end of this course students will:

• have the ability to read and understand original Latin prose and/or poetry with some facility.
• develop knowledge of the rhetorical and linguistic features of Latin in the original.
• extend their knowledge and understanding of advanced features of Latin grammar.
• understand some of the themes and/or historical background of Latin literature.

It is recommended that students have approximately 400-hours of previous language study or have equivalent language knowledge (four to five years of prior Latin study).
