Ever dreamed of creating your own stunning floral trims for hats or headbands?

Step into the world of millinery and discover the art of handcrafted flower design. In this hands-on course, you’ll be guided through the process of designing, creating and finishing two distinct flower styles, building your skills and confidence each week.

Each session will focus on a different technique, giving you the opportunity to explore a variety of materials, styles, and construction methods in a supportive, creative environment.

Techniques you’ll explore

Bonded Wired Petals
Learn how to design, shape, hand-paint, and assemble wired petals to create beautifully detailed flowers.

Circular Petal Rose
Create elegant rose forms using coloured silk or silk abaca, focusing on structure and flow.

Perfect for beginners or creatives looking to expand their skills, this course is your chance to bring beautiful, bespoke flower trims to life.

Wendy Scully is a qualified Visual Arts Teacher with over 34 years textile and art teaching experience. She has run her own millinery  business  in Melbourne (fulltime )for the past 12 years.  Wendy had her retail hat shop in the Emporium until 2024 and now runs her business from a  Melb CBD studio. She is also a causal teacher at Boxhill Tafe in the area of Visual Design. 

Wendy is an award winning millinery, both in Australia and in France, with her millinery having been displayed on runways and exhibitions in the UK, France and Australia. She is known her flexibility to collaborate with designers. 

She has studied millinery with several well-known international tutors. Wendy’s millinery is used to grace the heads of many well known people. She has supplied Perri Cutten boutiques for the past 4 years with a curated selection of millinery. Wendy believes you should never stop learning.  

Please bring a sketch book and pencil to draw ideas and take notes.

All basic materials will be provided.
