Discover the Art of Kintsugi: Embrace Beauty in Imperfection

Join us for an inspiring introduction to the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi – the practice of repairing broken ceramics with elegance and meaning. Learn how to transform damaged pieces into stunning works of art that celebrate their unique history.

In this hands-on course, you’ll explore the origins and philosophy behind Kintsugi and experiment with two approaches: the traditional Urushi lacquer technique and a modern adaptation. Using accessible materials such as epoxy glue, putty, and a variation of Urushi lacquer, you’ll find it easy to create beautiful, lasting pieces.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home two to three handcrafted ceramics, lovingly restored using Kintsugi techniques.

What’s included:

• A fascinating overview of Kintsugi’s history and cultural significance
• Step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor
• Practical knowledge of modern Kintsugi methods
• Two or three repaired pottery pieces to cherish

What to bring:

Two to three ceramic pieces that are broken (if not already broken, you can break them in class).  These will be used to learn techniques so please don’t bring valuable pieces.
